 APPLYING FOR A SPECIAL AWARD...
The award referred to as a ‘Special Award’ is only given at the fall ARBA Convention shows, and is named in honor of an ANDRC member. Once the application process as been approved, the award established and the endowment made to the club, the award will be given in perpetuity. Once a Special Award has been created, no awards bearing the same name may be given at any other national ANDRC show.
In order to establish a special award in the name of an individual, the attached application must be completed and sent to the Chairman of the Special Awards Committee by January 1st. The chairman will disseminate the information to designated committee members. The application will be considered and formally presented to the Board of Directors at the spring meeting of the same year.
To qualify for the establishment of a Special Award, the individual in question should have been a member of the ANDRC for at least 10 years, be an active or retired Dwarf breeder and exhibitor, and have held a position or attained a status where he/she had a positive influence on the direction of the club or the breed during this time. The awards are designed to recognize those individuals who have impacted the club/breed on a national level. The opportunity to honor those who have had an influence solely on a regional or state level is reserved for the Spring ANDRC National show, or at state or regional events.
The award cannot be established without being fully endowed, at a cost of $600 for an open award and an additional $600 for youth. (An open or youth award can be established individually.) When preparing to submit the application, the money should be able to be readily collected, either being held in a club or individual’s own account, or by checks payable to the ANDRC. The individual or group proposing the award shall forward the amount required to the Secretary/Treasurer of the ANDRC within six weeks following approval by the Board.
Once the application has been completed, send it by January 1st, along with three letters of recommendation from three individuals who can attest to the person’s contributions, to:
Committee Chair, Ellie Bonde
5501 Buffalo Road
Mount Airy, Maryland 21771
The application will be considered by the committee and presented to the ANDRC Board of Directors at the meeting held at the Spring National show. If the application is approved, the award will be initiated at the ARBA Convention show of the same year.
